Fuel tanks

Hey, i've got a 74 ta22 and i want to move the fuel tank from behind the back seat to somewher else. I'm pretty sure you can get a tank that sits in the boot (?) but then your spare wheel sits on an angle in ther (?) i was thinking more along the lines of positioning one up under the spare wheel spot - or somewher else (not sure wher). Has anybody done this before, has anybody had a custom alloy one made up thats fits somewher else?

I'm cutting the spare wheel well out and welding a flat plate there, then hanging a tank under the back!

The fuel tank is probably better where it is. My reason is its not hanging rear of the back axle. So even when full, it doesnt change the center of gravity of the car by as much as it would if it was behind the rear axle.
Also, as it emptys when driving, the weight change will be less noticeable in the way the car handles.
The lower and more centeral you can get the tank, the better as far a handleing goes. Really, if you can get centre of the tank to coincide with the centre of gravity of the car would be ideal.
My 2c worth...
Craig.

Well I hope to be getting it done soon with teh filler between the rear lights. There are 3 people around here interested in getting it done at the same time to bring the costs down, so if anyone else is interested i'll let you know when its going to happen.

Bassicly I wanted to get a copy of the plastic trim made from alloy and have the filler in the center of that on an angle. If that makes sense
