Shocks preferences: KYB vs Monroe (and maybe vs Pedders) Wed, 02 July 2003 03:14 Go to next message
Can anyone give me feedback on what (rear) shocks i should use for my KE55?
Heard conflicting reports on KYB and Monroe from different suppliers (naturally)

KYB are supposed to be better than monroe, and they're cheaper too.
Pedders are that bit more expensive, but are they far and away better?

Likely choice is between KYB and Monroe.

Advice please...

Aren't the Pedder's shocks just Monroe ones painted red anyway?

i know they aren't on your list, but i've always liked the non-gas Tokicos for the KE's. dunno what they are retail, but i got a few sets really cheap from a parts warehouse (Engine Parts Australia, which is now Nason)

i have had K-mac and they suck.

you can get konis cheaply in the US, but postage might suck... they had KE20 (iirc are same as 30 and 55) for US$25 each, so say AUD$80-90 for the pair+postage, and they are adjustable...

have a look around on the net for parrts places with chiosk clearances...
then again, if any shock will do, go whichewver ones have least negative feedback....

Cya, Stewart

The KYB's are awesome.

They perform like Koni's but at a fraction of the cost. I just put 4 KYB shocks on my Seca SX with Lovell Superlow springs and the car handles beautifully. KYB are a little more expensive than Monroe - all depends on your budget and what you want.

Don't go Monroe unless u want to be changing shocks constantly. I'd recommend KYB anyday. If you are interested I can get you a good price on them. PM me or email me at seca_sx@hotmail.com

I run KYB on my AE82, and the other two dont even rate.

KYB give good bang for the buck.

Craig.
