Decided to build a KE30 or KE55 and need to ask you guys a few questions about them.
1. Whats the difference between the KE30 and the KE55?
2.What years did these come out?
3.What mods do i have to do to fit a 4AG/ZE in her? Could i use a crossmember off a AE71 or mod the existing one?
4.Did these come out with a hydraulic clutch?
5.How big is the transmission tunnel? As i would want to fit a W series box behind the 4ag/ze. Anyone else build the bellhousings for this or do i have to get dellow (bodgy)?
6.What diff is recommended? I was thinking of a G series hilux with lsd. Would this need shortening?
7.Anyone know whos got one for sale Very Happy

Thanks in advance
Lachlan
EDIT: Spelling Cool

Check out my webpage first.

1. KE55 is newer, with 4K engine (not 3K) and had updated parts. Also many australian made parts.
2. 1974-1981
3. Mod the existing cross member.
4. Only TE30 series cars had hydralic, not KE series. It is easy to convert but.
5. ???
6. T series 6.7" is good enough, and the standard diff behind the 2T-G and 4A-GE.
7. Lots about. They are plentyfull and cheap. Probably 3 million sold.

diff - ke30 had banjo and ke55 had a borg warner
ke55 had larger drums
different bumbers, bonnet, grill, lights, fuel vents, dash, motor as mentioned, some ke55 had sway bars and interior varies model to model

bigger enough for a w series gearbox
most use dellows but that was some on these forums stating that they were making them in NZ

hilux and borg warners (from falcons, commodores etc) are the most popular choice

KE55's rule

4K's are indestructable,

watch for rust under fuel filler hole and on both back mudgaurds.

I got a 4-door too buddy, they are the best cars, i gaurantee you'll love them more every time you drive it or look at it.
ESPECIALLY with a 4age under the bonnet.

P.S. i dont think the back seats of KE30/55's are designed for people more like midgets
