brissy cruise ideas Mon, 23 February 2004 10:23 Go to next message
Ok the next brissie cruise thread didnt seam to be going anywhere so i thought id start a new one. Just wanna mainly know all your ideas at this stage as opposed to just whos coming. Does anyone have any good ideas on where to go. Hopefully theres not to much hills or fast spots as i have a dingy old corona with a rattly 18rc to try and keep up with everyone until my celica is finished. All positive ideas are appreciated.

that is a fair distance isn't it? Like just next to Warrick?

The road in Warrick is awesome though, soooooo smooth Smile

Cunningham's gap is less than an hour from Willowbank - so add your usuall travel time to a test-n-tune and you've got an reasonable speed-limit-legal travel time.

bit hot to be walkin isnt it. especially in the bush... I was thinking more of a drive. Maybe out the back through esk to somerset dam. Then up past steve irwins croc farm and out towards the sunny coast. Maybe over to redcliffe and then back through sandgate and wynnum. And then back. Theres plenty of places to stop and go to along the way.

after the last cruise, i drove back via kilkoy, somerset dam and back of wivenhoe - nice drive but few (if any) spots to pull over and cool off, swin or eat.

actually, the bit from somerset and around the back of wivenhoe could be a lot of fun - long straight stetches, great sweeping corners near Splityard creek and only a few surprise sorners/winding bits. a good part to really stretch some legs... some of the superbike crowd like that road - minimal cops, safe road, etc...

But there's only one place at somerset for swim/bbq, and wivenhoe always seems to have high blue-green algae levels so you can't swim or drink the water...

fwiw: the road along somerset dam (from kilkoy) owuld really suit the 'rolla's with rally-car suspension - lots of tight corners with little room for error... i think bigger cars would start ot have brake/heavy steering issues after a while - i enjoyed it but was glad when i gotto the dam wall.

I'd give steve irwin a miss unless you like crowds and tourists - personally i think he's a pratt.

could be a nice drive, tho some of the roads you'd be are are main roads with high traffic volumes.

well, i'm keen on anything that ha a bit of socialising and cooling off - the 'go west' thing was to avoid the g/c motorway or the hwy up to the s/shine coast.

update on moogoorah dam - water level is pretty low - sunwater had it at about 12% before last lot of rain.

charles.

Sounds alright but we would need more info on it before we go we the drive. There is also the possibility of maybe a overnite drive. Say leave sat arvo sometime and cruise maybe down or up the coast. Pitch a tent somewhere and then cruise around on sunday. Just a idea if anyone knows of anywhere to stay. We always stay at pincushion caravanpark. Its on the water and only $18 a night for a tent site for 2 ppl plys $5 per extra person on each site and $20 deposit on the gate key. Its always a niceplay to stay.

Some of us have to work unfortunatly. There is suppose to be a nice drive out to toowoomba then turn left right as if heading up australia. Last i heard it was real nice.

bris to toowoomba then up north to crows nest? or just up that road until the esk turn off, down the mountain to esk, then a choice of back to brissie, or further up the hwy to kilkoy then your choice of sunshine coast destination?

road to crows nest and then down to esk is single lane. My brother used to live along that road and driving from brissie, thru to esk then up the range was quote scenic and fun.

between esk and crows nest highway is a few state forests, plus with good rain, you can try lake perseverance or the crows nest falls (if you can find them) - which is just north of the turn off on the crows nest road.

useless info: toowoomba sucks the life out of you - it might be a cheap uni town, but my god it's a FUCKEN boring place to live in (so always visit it but never live there)...

heh
i can beat ya...
i got a 6 month suspension and a $500 fine for CHIRPING the wheels twice...

definition of chirping wheels=short sharp noise, very little wheel spin
compared to
definition of spinning the wheels=more noise, possibility of smoke, large amount of wheel spin

have a look in the papers for drink driving and see what they get for over twice the limit Mad
bastard courts Mad

ok i never denied i made noise, i was just pissed off at the penalty... ok undue noise($220+2 points) is fair nuff... but a 6 month suspension on a full open licence with no points lost is a bit harsh i thought Mad

hmm its not off topic, officer... i promise Razz

While your over theres whats the chances of finding a 18rgeu wiring diagram different to what we can get here. Also the best cruises take time to plan so whats the go everyone. The idea of a cruise is to show off our cars isnt it??? I should take my corona. Its got the most rattlest timing chain you will ever hear but it still goes.

on topic: I think a day cruise not too far around brissy area would be good. Say start around 12pm, check out some spots (know idea if there is any Smile) then head out to willowbank for some action!

what do you think?

i'll throw my hat into the ring Smile

if we cruise up north i reckon Condaloola (sp?) falls would be ok...the north coast boys can prolly fill in with more info. It's pretty nice there, waterfalls, rockpools, bbq area, shade etc etc

if we cruise south we could goto O'Rielly's and do the bbq thing...plenty of rock pools to swim in, bushwalks etc then make our way to Natural Arch

whatever happens i'll go with the group consensus...depends on when my car will be ready also. How's your's coming along Jake?
