"good luck"
...is a phrase that comes to mind ...follwed quickly by:
"why bother"
fwiw: im not sure, but ive seen quite a few 4m's getting around the wreckers with some kind of simple 6-2-1 extractors installed. i have a sneaking suspicion that the manifold bolt pattern and port spacing is the same too. perhaps dave would like to chime in on compatability?

well yes, i know they are gutless and all
but im doing up an MA61 atm, hoping for 7MGTE power, and im looking at buying another one just to drive in the mean time, so i thought i might just try and get some headers, exhaust and sealed off pod to give it a tad more poke, nothing spech...
thanks for the input guys

dont bother! make shure you have the twin outlet exhaust manifold and make a decent engine pipe from memory twin 1 3/4 inch 1m long into a nice 2.5 inch collector preferably
Make shure you also have the large throttle body on there also
when you do the headgasket take the max off the head to get the compression up aswell and use i think it was 18R-C valves??? dave???

alternatively - when you have the head off to do the headgasket, simply consider yourself halfway to pulling the rest of the motor out... then ditch the fucker in a large bin

geez thats harsh
even shit motors can be made to run better
like.... 4K's.. 7M's
graba flange plate, some bends, a mate with a welder and a case of beer, and "phone a friend" with a welder
making your own is a days work and a bit of fun mixed with frustration.

i can understand ur point perfectly. but, if i can make an almost std supra just a bit more bearable for like $500 odd, untill i can really get my other one going, is it really a waste or time, effort and money???
but yes, i can understand all ur points perfectly, and they have been taken greatly into consideration.
i dont plan on doing anything at all interesting with a 5ME, that would be kinda simmilar to bothering trying to mod a suzuki mighty boy ute... there are soooo many other better and cheaper options out there...
although, i have seen a 13 second mighty boy

it was just a quick thought guys.... if i could pick up some extractors for like 150 odd, it would be worth it just to make the bland day to day a bit more interesting...
i already have another that is my project, so that is wat everything remotely serious will get done to....
if i can ever get it finished

Hey All,
When I got my MA61 back, engine fully rebuilt it went well while it lasted (still got no brakes). I am keeping my exhaust stock from the manifold back as I can't be bothered chasing more performance out of it.
Cheers.
