Computer TV Tuner cards?

Does anyone have one of those internal tv tuner cards in their PC. They seem a cheaper option than buying another tv for the spare room. What are they like and do they have any down falls?

I have a cheap flyvideo 98 item, its ok but the software is something I would'nt be braging about if I had wrote it
I mainly just use it to monitor my front yard with my security camera! If you can get one for a good price, go for it! The picture quality isn't the best but that ise to be expected for a $60 card!

Have you got cable Tv?
ive got one.. the picture quality is great when you have the vcr/dvd/ps2 connected
BUT.. with free to air.. and the bodgey arial they give you.. there is sometimes interferance on the screen.. sort of like scan lines. other then that if it works fine.. Its Great
if you have the time to tune the channels properly. just sit back like a meter away from the screen and its pretty good resolution. nearly as sharp as a real tv.

Yer, im looking at getting one of these when i get some extra cash...
my mate has a tuner card and he reckons its good. has it connected to his external aerial but, not the dodgy one they give ya.
But yer, its not good watching it close up im told. he just has it as a small window, just in the background.
Mad idea i reckon! im keen.

We have the latest Fly Video 3000's at the PC shop I work at, using a roof mounted antenna the reception is crystal clear at full screen mode.
The FM Radio pickup was clear enough to record some wicked songs to mp3 .

I have the same Flyvideo card it works quite well.
I also have an external tv tuner i bought years ago also crystal clear, all it needs to run is a PC monitor does not connect to the computer so no capture ability on that one.

FRIG! that first review page is 5 pages! doubt i'll be reading all that. Havent had a look at the other review site either....
also, those prices from eyo are not the lowest around obviously. prices from a computer fair would be heaps cheaper.

You can pick up Pixel View cards for around the $120 mark, it has remote, fm, tv, teletext, RCA input and S Video inputs.

Also, try the Pinnacle PCTV at around $125-. The software is pretty good and it will also work with XP.

Leadtek TV Tuner is clearer than the FlyVideo we had at the shop.
Nicer looking interface too, and the drivers that Leadtek wrote are much more stable and less temperamental than FlyVideo 3000 one's.
I think most of the tuner cards use the same Philips tuner, however the Leadtek one doesn't use the Philips drivers, which they clame are buggy...
Anyhow, I'd go the Leadtek dude.
