:: Get there at 6:00am. We'll be waiting for everyone to turn up and not leaving anyone behind. However We must depart before 6:30am.
DESTINATION, ETA
-Melbourne for: Largest gathering of AE86s in Australia's history & The Full-lock Drift Meet (Banzai Battle Crazy #1) @ Calder Park. (12/12/04)
-ETA: Anywhere from 12-16hrs after departure.
DEPARTURE FROM:
-Homebush Bay (Olympic site) P6 Carpark/Zone.
ROUTE:
Route #1 on the way to Melbourne.
Route #2 is an option on the way back. Decision will be made whilst down there.
#1. PRINCES HWY
Info: THE Coastal Drive -
Distance: 1057.62km
Time: 23.00hrs (my estimates would say 15-16hrs max)
#2. HUME HWY/SNOW MTNS HWY/OMEO HWY
Info: Hume Hwy until just abit before Canberra, then we take a detour through the Snowy Mountains! (inview of kosciusko) then back onto the hume further north.
Distance: 1018.34km
Time: 17.58hrs (realistically Id say 14-15hrs max)
Pink = Way down.
Green = Way up.
:: Or if there is a general feeling of just wanting to get home on the way back then we'll just follow the hume all the way home. But a detour to the mountains does sound tempting. Or ofcourse when can go back the way we came.

Can I suggest that a Monday return would really be the go? Personally I reckon it would suck to drive that big trip after the vent on Sunday.... Plus it would mean driving throughout the night, which I don't reckon is a really good idea.

If your on your P's please point it out.
As of the 19/10 we are 52days away! Mark your Calenders.
- How bout we vote for a departure time. My 2cents goes to 6am.

There are so many more hachis out there. One of the previous cruises we had 30 in Syd alone attend. Perhaps we should look up the old list? *performs search*

Also there was mention of someone making a flyer? Garth?. To post onto hachis at random.. Its worth a shot. I know Ive seen 3or4 on the street that were modified, but as far as I knew they werent toymodders.
If one more person agree's on 6am. Then Ill put that as THE time on the list. Because it is the most logical

should we make the meeting place at Homebush Olympic stadium P6 Carpark?
I think it will make things easier as it is quiet, the signs are very clear and everyone knows where olympic stadium is (i hope )
Besides, there is a maccas just nearby and group photos/car preparations can be performed without hassle from other motorists.
thoughts?

Princes Highway is a bitch of a drive. There is constantly changing speed limits and a lot of camera's. I can completely believe that it would take that long based on just driving to Batemans Bay. That's only 200ish K's but it took near on 4 hours.
Just trying to help out.

Thanks for the word Josh.
But I agree with garth, definately not stickin to a highway 100%. Hell driving to the central coast I cant evan stand 30min in the hachi going 110.
Ok So I guess it is going to take us a long time to get there. Mightaswell have a big stop half way and mini fuel stops inbetween that point. Halfway is pretty much 'Bega' so I say we stop and get a years suply of cheese.

haha mooo
i guess we just have to sacrifice more of a trip to go a more scenic route but at the same time watch for cameras and our speed if we go Princes Hwy - but taking Josh's advice, we just have to be warned.
So we will only be going down this route and back up the Hume? (i'm following the map at the top)
I think P6 carpark is the goer ..... there is enough parking space to accomodate the Aus. Hachi population, so thats more than enough, the turf is smooth, good spread out photo scenic backdrops, and nice and quiet. Maccas nearby, peddy stations round the corners and it's central.
No hassles from crowded petrol stations where people miss the entry and stall time, and no split up parking where we can't even park together.
Most importantly NO CONFUSION!!!
CB's are a MUST, i think we should make it mandatory, because it keep everyone together.
Andrew - the flyer is awesome, just a suggestion if it's not too late, i think it would be good if you put a lil info on it as well, just general details/contact details, ph. numbers etc. But i think its a lil confusing coz people would think that the meet is down there and no cruising together from Sydney - make it like 'meet at Homebush blah blah on this date/time' then list some smallish details if that makes sense.

Yep Ill updated P6 as the meet spot.
As for the details.. i ran outta space.. haha nah Its just that certain details havent been decided upon yet... So its a temp As for contact numbers and stuff. Whose going to be the contact?
I agree that CB's should be mandatory. Apart from all I mentioned, the person leading can give heads up to other drivers 'speed camera up ahead'.... 'kangaroo on road' etc.... it really is vital.
As for the map green/pink..
Pink is the route it seems we've all agreed on to head down there.. And then the green is an option on the way back. Because some people just might want to head directly home (hume hwy) instead of heading back the 16hrs long way that we've already seen. So I thought hang-on we could go back direct, then go through the mountains for some scenic driving. But if the coastal drive is really that awesome (something we will find out once we do it) then ofcourse we should make a decision on coming the same way back.

I also need suggestions on THE major stop!. A good halfhour-45min to stretch the legs...
on the map this is what looks best
-Bateman's bay (4hrs. a fair bit too early)
-Narooma (5hrs.)
-Bega (6-7hrs) Almost halfway.
-Meriumbulla (8hrs? Its got a big [I] on it so it must be a lookout?)
-Orbost (6-7hrs from Melb)
-Bairnsdale (4-5hrs from Melb)
What are peoples thoughts.

Formula 1 sound like a good plan, cause it's cheap like the budgie! we can just load up a few rooms with every one, much better than sleeping in a car!
But if people want to camp somewhere, i have a tent that would sleep 4 or 5 guys & if other people have tents we could try that,
Personally though i think Formula 1 is the way to go,

Yep I guess a pre-booking should be the plan. Dont want to turn up with nowhere to sleep.
Especially after driving 15hours, chattin and drinkin afterwards, were going to want a comfortable bed!
We dont evan know how many cars are coming let alone people yet. So I think the bookings will have to wait abit longer.

For people who travel far often enough to know.
Can we have a possible approximation on fuel cost figures for such a trip?

look at trip distance's ive quoted. I didnt make them up, theyre accurate (measured from homebush bay, to the centre of melbourne)
I get around 200k's on a full tank so therefore Ive calculated all refuels to be under that. Just workout how much yours is a tank

Simple maths:
Total distance (DIVIDED BY) how far you get on a tank of gas (TIMES) the cost of you average tank of gas
I think that will be the most expensive part of the trip,

I wouldn't have a clue how far I get on a tank coz my speedo has never worked..... I guess I should get that fixed before the trip!
So is ANYONE bringing their girls???
I don't fancy babysitting all weekend.
