TVIS anyone give me more info?

Hey all, i was just reading a site about TVIS, and would like to know a lot more info about it. If anyone has more info, please post here or link me

It does this by blocking off half of the port to each cylinder thereby increasing the speed of the incoming air.
Once the revs get to a preset point, the ECU turns on the TVIS valve which unblocks that half of the port so you get more air coming in at high revs.
The 3SGE (Gen 1) makes maximum torque @ 4800 rpm and max.Power @ 6000rpm so not a lot of point revving past 6000rpm. If it had different cams it would probably make more power at higher revs. But the Gen 1 3SGE is getting old, and new cams would be hard to find.
Better off spending the money on a Gen2 or Gen 3. Gen 2 + 3 do not have TVIS.

yeah I think you have gen1 manifold on a gen 2 motor dude.. standard procedure for 162s

How does that work? Aren't the ports on the gen 2 different sizes to the gen 1? Wouldn't it just cause heaps of turbulence and restrict the engine?

Yeah ive seen pics of your engine bay i think, its got all the manifolds from the first gen engine lacked of, port sizes may be different but bolt pattern is the same, its done that way cos its about a billion times easier to put in using the gen 1 loom and ecu. The result is a newer motor with raised compression. Im a standard mild tune engine im not sure turbulance would be an issue worth worrying about.

what m i looking at? I'll get the Engine bay pics up asap, cause i have a slight feeling that you guys are right, that is i have a gen 2 motor, but everything else is gen 1...
Which im not considerabilly happy about 
but just to contridict myself... the TVIS rocks... felt like a miniture turbo LolOlolOLOLoLOlOL

Hrm...you might find that TVIS is not a really good thing on a Gen 2 head.
