Fault code problems Sat, 01 January 2005 08:24 Go to next message
Hey guys i was wondering if anyone out there could help me.
I own an 86 celica and i have just got a 94 model 3sgte motor put in. At this point in time the engine is running not to bad but it has been running a little rough. While driving to and from the work shop i noticed the engine light come on a couple of times. I checked the diagnostic box and it has revealed that i had fault code 24 which is intake air temp sensor and fault code 31 which is air flow meter signal. can anyone tell me what the cause could of been and where i should start rectify the problems.
Cheers and looking forward to some responses

sounds like the AFM obviously.check to see the plug is in properly connected and clean the plug's points with some contact cleaner.take the AFm off and make sure its not blocked with oil etc.check to see if the little white sensor inside isn't damaged.also make sure the flapper door isn't sticking.its likely that the parts are dirty becuase alot of crap gets built up in the motors from japan.

Umm... the 94 model 3SGTE is the ST205 / Gen 3 3SGTE... they run a MAP sensor not AFM.
I'd say you've read the wrong fault code list... either the one for the ST185 or ST165 Gt-four / Alltrac.
