Temp sender, different engine

I put another temp gauge in my car one with its own sender and gauge so both are suited.
Problem is the new one reads differently to the stock gauge.
The gauge is a stock ta22 gauge and the sender/pickup is a 3tgte sender would this change anything, would it be wise to get a 2t sender.??
Thanks

9 times out of 10 the temp guage sensor on Toyotas hasn't changed.
However, if the guage reads hotter after the conversion, and you know the radiator/waterpump/etc is all good, try swapping in the correct sensor for the guage.

yes you see the aftermarket temp gauge with its built in sensor reads from the same place as the standard, and it shows the engine to be hotter than the celica gauge,
I guess it could also be the gauge playing up, It is in fareignhight is this wat ta22 came out with.

i put a 18rc temp sender in my sisters 18rg, the temp is at 0 on the gauge when you start it, but the temp climbs off the gauge before the thing even warm's up
problem still not solved

I connected a TA22 temp gauge to my 2JZ-GTE and it worked perfectly. I'd be surprised if it didn't work just as well on a 3T-GTE.

sounds like you've got a switch not a guage sensor? or it's a GM (or other non toyota) sensor that has much lower range of resistance
