cross member/sump configurations for an MZ10? Sat, 23 April 2005 00:44 Go to next message
sorry if sounds dumb..

i have a MZ10 rolling shell (ex MTEU) and a 1G-GTE doing nothing so i figured the two of them should be introduced and used in anger ... but the 1G is a mid/rear sump (came out of an RA40) and the MZ is suited for front sump.

what's easier? get different cross member, or locate a front sump/oil-pickup for the 1G?

wilbo: you were talking about this on thursday nite but i not remember them long words U used. Embarassed

cheers and tia,
Charles

MA61 and MZ10 are both front sump configuration. The other option is an MX73, but im pretty sure it is also front sump.

Id say easiest option is just get a front sump.

Id say ONLY option is just get a front sump.

I doubt and other crossmembers will bolt in.

edit: ok - so only front-sump cross members will bolt up... so front sump here i come.

I was thinking that there are benefits from a new cross member - i get to easily fit new bushes and other hardware, do any bracing/additions to engine mount points - but there is the inevitable cost of doing this ... and now the obvious lack of choice Laughing

cheers and tia,
charles.

Johal says that GZ10's are front sump. He also believes (but you know him Razz, he couldn't give me a 100% definite statement of fact) that they have the same crossmember as MZ10...I think thats prbly true.....but its just a guess!

If they are the same, then I see little option other than to get a 1g front sump! (and some GZ10 mounts at the same time if possible Wink)

Cheers
Wilbo

If they are anything like the Celica XX's, they will be exactly the same.
