4YE replacing 3Y - How easy?? Tue, 17 May 2005 05:53 Go to next message
I'm considering swapping a 4Y-E from an 89 Tarago into a 1985 Hiace originally equipped with a 3Y-C.

It seems like it should be "bolt-up" but I also understand that nothing is ever truly "bolt-up". And so I was just wondering if anyone had any experience doing this conversion and could let me know their experiences.

Any water pipe re-routing needed?
Throttle cable modifications?
Does the AFM fit somewhere ok?
Etc etc...

Basically how much of a hassle is it?

I'm familiar with the whole carby -> EFI side of things too.

easy easy easy Smile
no mods should be needed
all parts required should be on the motors (if complete)
except high pressure fuel pump.

Now I just have to talk the parents into it... fuel injection is more reliable... no more black smoke... easier to turbo...
