SC14 with 4age? Thu, 26 May 2005 07:26 Go to next message
just wondering if many ppl have put an SC14 on a 4age and what kind of power figures you've got out of it. I've done some searching and stuff but the modifying 4age's thread wasnt that helpful. I just bought an SC14 that i was going to use on a 12a but decided to go 4age instead, what model 4age should i be looking at? im looking for about 140 - 190 kws (yes its quite a big gap)

cheers luke

Luke,
I seriously doubt the truthfullness of what you typed up here. I just searched '4AGZE SC14' and found this excellent thread here, amongst more than a few others.....

Now, apologies in the form of a donation to Support Toymods should be mandatory here..... Razz

Cheers,
Mitch.

yes but is this done with just 4age then bolting on a SC to make a 4agze or using a 4agze and just upgrading the SC?

If you want to supercharge a 4A-GE you should start with a 4A-GZE. You will have to spend more money on that -GE motor than just buying a 4A-GZE in the first place in order for the engine to survive being boosted, especially for the power output that you would like to produce.

Yes, better off buying a 4A-GZE and following the path that others have walked before you, padawan......4A-GZE already has the nice low compression pistons. However, it you really need that many horses from a 4A series motor, even with an SC14 you may struggle to get there in a cost effective manner.
A better bet for that amount of power is to again start with a 4A-GZE but drop the Z for a T. Sounds easy when you type it.
Again plenty of threads on this forum under '4A-GTE'. Search, read, learn and enjoy......

You need to buy Corky's Bells excellent book called 'Supercharging' and read up of the theory of these things. An engine is only an air pump and its design and volume are its limits to its mechanical efficiency and power and torque potential. You can try and bolt 14 SC14's to it but they will do no more (a lot less in fact - due to mechanical losses) for you than a single SC14.

Also, Google Bill Sherwoods site and read about the path to high horsepower 4A-GE's. That will help you too.
