mine is running shithouse at the moment too.

check your electrics (spark plugs, etc)

mine is running on 5 cyls but is really hard to tell because it's only a small capacity engine.

but yeah man check that first. mine still boosts and everything but has a slight suburu sound to it that is really unnoticeable.

it just goes really slow. gotta find out whats wrong and fix it before the weekend. (DRIFT NATS!!!)

i think ur temperature /coolant sensor is buggered , u need to find where it is and change that i dont know where it is situated in the gz20 , if the coolant sensor is buggered car wuill not warm up quickly and use a lot of fuel and blow black smoke and idle rough cause of too much fuel being used just be carefull with it also change the thermostat while ur at it

AND USE SOME BLOODY COOLANT IN THE CAR AND TOYOTA LONG LIFE TO BE PRECISE (its the red coloured one) Mad Mad Mad Mad

I had a similar problem on my MZ20 a few weeks ago. The car was running fine then the next day it was running really rich (lots of black smoke out the exhaust)

It was so bad i couldn't drive the car without it miss firing.

Check engine light indicated a malfunction in the thermostate circuit. After some testing i found a broken wire for the coolant temp sensor near the ECU. You've gotta love the Japs with all their scotch locks.......

Once fixed i drove the car for 10min to clean the plugs up and it was fine again.

Just a thought.

Cheers

How often do you check the oil?

If the dipstick showed empty, why did you go straight to 2.5l? Empty to full on most cars is under 1l, and too much oil is bad for engines.

Man what are u talking about the soarer takes a little more than 5l of fresh oil to become full from empty when changing the oil

Dude if u have filled it up too much then drain a little oil off the engine I did the same thing and it fouled the sparkplugs and the car was running like shite cause there was oil in the plugs so I drained it , cleaned the plugs and she was back to normal, but the blak smoke is def fuel , so check the thermostat and the coolant temp sensor , usually located near the thermostat
