Crank Angle Sensor on 2TG Sun, 08 December 2002 09:33 Go to next message
I want to set up my 2TG with 4 coils
which means a crank angle sensor
ive heard of ppl adapting 13B type sensors with a plate on the
front of the crank
id love to find out more info on setting up somthing like this
ive had a look round on the net but i didnt find anything of any use to me
i noticed that MSD are now selling kits that go on the front of V8's
so there must be some way of doing this
there is an artical in and old hot4's but it tells u crap all

thanks Smile

Ive heard of using a CA18 cas, in the place of the dizzy but that was for anoughter motor. You get the Std dizzy cut and shut with a CAS and that should do the trick. Im going to get one done on my 2TG early next year.(i have a spare dizzy so my car wont be off the road when im getting it done) Smile Smile

Guys,

Speak to YelloRolla. Jason can make you a Crank angle sensor kit that will do the trick just nicely. No Idea of cost but I have seen it at work on 3 cars already with no complaints. Worst case senario you may need to fit a 3TGTE crank pully Smile (Not sure on that)

Other alternatice is sensors on the cam and flywheel but this is more of a headache to set up and more costly. (Mine is like this)

Hope that helps.

First of all, what computer do you plan to use??

I cant remember the details of Jason's setup, but on my 3TGTE I used an alloy disc 200mm in diameter on the crank pulley, with two rare earth magnets mounted near the edge on the back of the disc, one with the north pole facing outwards, one with the south. These pass a 2 channel hall effect sensor to send the signal to the ECU for both home (TDC #1cyl) and trigger pulses.

Works brilliantly with the Haltech E6K. Very Happy

Cheers

Phil

Josh,

Your MTX 8 Should be able to run off a number of different trigger options. Find out from Microtech what they recommend, and then we may discuss how to do it.
One Cat - Many ways to skin it.
Ph me if you like on 0402 030 561. Alternatively drop me an email.

Regards
Jason
