megasquirt ecu??? Thu, 14 July 2005 08:55 Go to next message
Hi,

Has anyone build a megasquirt ecu and used it on a 4age? Or even used it with quads?

Thanks

thanks for the reply.
did you find it difficult to build and set up? I like to do as much as possible myself and am looking for feed back on the topic. I am wondering if i would be better of going for something which is already built and proven like an autronic.

Thanks again

ECU is easy to build if you can drive a soldering iron and a multimeter.

get a laptop running W2K or linux - is the best way to tune/configure these things.

download the manual, read it, read it again, then re-read the bits you're unsure of and then keep referring to it whenever you get confused - you should keep the PDF version of the manual on your laptop for when you're tuning.

get an account at the msefi forums.

Place to look for folks who have done what you're considering is the "Success Stories" section.

A quick scan of the toyotas having been been 'squirted' (and the list is by no means comprehensive as there's a lot of lurkers on the forums) shows:
ma61 (6mgte)
3sge
'87 mr2 (i guess that's a 4age)
tercel
carina
ra40
4age
20V blacktop
'85 Mr2 - 4agte
