i know the oil filter adapter is the same between them.

i assume alot of the accessories are fairly interchangable between
the 18r and 18rg.

but cant say for sure...also cant blame ya for making sure either. gl

you can use a RC pump on a stock RG(I did). But, when you start building more performance. the RC pump will run out of steam.

EDIT: never mind. read it as oil pump, not fuel pump. Laughing

If the Green bible is anything to go by... which it is... the fuel pumps are the same.

every time there is a difference between the 18r and the rg it shows it ie the oil pump for both motors is shown in an exploded view

how far beyond standard the original pumps are good for who knows? you would have to work out the flow from a std pump and what your needs for the worked motor and go from there i suppose

hope that helps

cheers

once you have more compression/bigger bore and
bigger carbs/port the head and run higher rpms.
the stander fuel pump can't keep up.

Mr DOHC, Do you want to run the risk of it not keeping up and potentially leaning out your engine?

Unless someone here can give flow measurements vs. RPM or is willing the measure the flow vs. RPM (by supplying the fuel to the engine with an electric pump and measuring the flow of the mechanical pump) then I would be careful about here say.

If you had the time then fit a fuel pressure gauge to mechanical pump and watch to see sufficient fuel pressure is being maintained at continuous high RPM e.g. when you have it dynoed. If fuel pressure drops back to 0 then you are going to have problems...

In my opinion I would use an aftermarket fuel pump like a Holley Red (no external reg required) with a fuel pressure gauge fitted on a pretty hot engine like yours.

Definitely use an electric pump for a warmed-over 18R-G. The stock pump is adequate for a stock setup but that's about it.

the standard pump was easily able to hold up to the dyno runs of 107rwhp, while still running rich
