ignition for 2t/3tgte Mon, 12 September 2005 07:14 Go to next message
hey guys i will be rebuilding a 3tgte soon but am wanting to go the hybrid path of 2tgeu head, injection etc with 3tgte turbo manifold etc on the 3tgte bottom end. i think ive got most of the mechanics sussed but ignition is ??? seeing as how the dizzy from the 3tgte comes out of the head and on the 2tgeu it in the block i have a problem. lol.
so my question is is it possible to use the stock 2tgeu electronic dizzy (88262 external ignitor) setup for a boost application? or will i need to go the coil packs path. i will be running a aftermarket ecu so am wondering if i have to get fuel only (if i can use the 2tg dizzy) or fuel and spark for some sort of coil pack setup.
intended use is a street car with only mild boost( how does 12psi sound?) forgies etc will be the go.
any help and advice is greatly appreciated cause im new to the 3tgte engine.
cheers
craig

well.

the 2tg dizzy does not retard on boost.

that said you could lock the 2tg dizzy, and make up a sensor for the harmonic balancer and use an aftermarket computer to retard ignition.
