HELP QUICK!! How long til thermostat opens on 18RGU

Hello modders,
Well i'm the happiest guy in the world at the moment. I've just spent all day puttin my completely re-bulit 18RGU in my RA23, YEEEHAAR!!!
I have one concern though that is limiting my running time to about 20 secs. I don't know how long i should wait before the thermostat opens and the cooling begins on this wonderful engine.
I'm too afraid that if i leave it running it will overheat, not what i want! Can anyone help, PLEASE???
Just to let u know, i haven't connected up entire elec circuit, only the positive to starter and earth. I'm using a starter box circuit i made for out of car starting. I see no reason why this should affect the coolong process but if it infact does, please let me know.
I appreciate any help in calming ny nerves.

82 celsius from memory
one assumes that as long as the water pump is working in the system and all air pockets are removed and you have a radiator withthe fan sucking air through it and you have a sealed water system then you should be fine...
