Thankyou, that does assist, however I need just a little more specific information.

"the black/yellow goes to ignition " When you say Ignition, you mean the ignition wire that goes live when the ignition is turned on, correct?

"the white goes to battery " When you say goes to battery, goes to which part of the battery, connects to the positive terminal, or the negative terminal?

That bit at the back is the voltage regulator, right?
Or do I still need to run the standard ra23 voltage reg?

yer black/yellow goes to ign like when u get reds
thin white which is on 3 pin plug can be joint to the think white wire

the thick white wire which goes on the big bolt/nut on the back of alternater goes to the positive side of the battery

u dont need the original external regulator if its got one
but if it does have an external regulater then one of the wires on the plug for it would go back up to the dash for the warning light and one of the wires might even have 12 ignition

thanks heaps dude, but you need to be a little more specific. You say it goes to ignition when you get reds? what you mean get reds, get red lights on turning the ignition on?
and you say that the thin white wire goes to the battery positive terminal?

Now for external regulator, how do I know if the 1g alternator has an external regulator?

the 1g alternater has an inbuilt reg
big black thing in back of alternater
its too new to have external reg anyway

reds i mean by oil light comes on power to coil
yer thin white goes to battery positive aswell its need to start the alternator charging by powering the exciter diodes
