ECU TACH out may or maynot work.
You can either try and use the IG- connection from the diagnostics box
OR
You can just use 1/3 the rpm to set the light.
IE, if you want the light to come on at 6000rpm, just set it to 2000rpm

ah cool thanks guys!
I will have a look for the IG connection on the diagnostics! cheers CrUZ
very helpful page thanks Diz
otherwise we might just go for the 2000revs setting and see if we can get that to work.
the jaycar kit said it would take 1 hour to wire up, lol, so far we are on hour four!

two o f my mates tried the same thing on his daewoo Lanos (fitting a tacho thou)and you have to find the rpm signal wire from the ecu. they tried hooking it up to the coil pack and they just had sparks and shit happening!
so yeh, not too sure. it is a daewoo though so it could be totally different.
i'd find that wire though.hey Rob, i bet you were thinking it would be a peice of piss like on a celica (with the coil right in front of you!)
good luck with it mate

I was like "what the....!" when i saw the arrangement on the 7M!
annyway, CrUZida you are the WINNER and we could not have done the day without you.
The IG circuit on diagnostics worked a treat! I just got back from configuring it on the M2 with some nice runs
Took a long time but very nice result.
Anyway, by way of "thanks" I took some photos to show you the finished product
Totally configurable when each light comes on
thanks heaps guys

Hey Rob - Christmas present for your brother?
That's actually not a bad looking spot to have them mounted really.. I've thought about doing a similar thing in the A-Pillar trim, mainly 'cos I don't like putting holes in non-(easily)-removable parts, but at least where you've got these ones you can't get pinned for having lights mounted above the dash..

blurry photos are because it's hard to keep the camera still while on boost with mega hard Bilstein Coilovers
Kit# and stuff.. I will try and get that for you I can't remember where we put the box

ok it's Kit# KC5265 "Rev Limiter/Gear Shift Indicator Kit For Cars"
it doesn't contain the box, which you have to buy separately for $4.95 i think
the box says it is "simple" and takes "60 minutes"
all I can say is, yeah, MAYBE you could assemble the board in 60 minutes, then you gotta install it in your car
Took us the better part of a day to do the WHOLE job
