Anti-lag setup??

for lack of a better description its an anti lag setup... basically a diesel injector in the exhaust manifold that squirts a constant flow of fuel into the exhaust manifold while not on boost. the fuel is meant to burn creating flames which expand and create more gasses to help the turbo spool up quicker. has anyone attempted this before? is it as effective in practice as in theory?

Ideally you would need to retard timing significantly as well (up to 30 degrees) to ignite the extra fuel properly. I dont know how you would set this up without a programmable ECU....

Make sure you have a supply of cheap turbos too, as it dramatically reduces turbo life.

you mean just like the WRC rally cars?? if you have ever heard the pops and bangs from the exhuast on decel (kinda like rifle cracks), then you can imiagine what it does to their turbos...
yes it will work, no your turbos won't last long....

Needless to say this is highly illegal and VERY conspicuous. As mentioned above it kills turbos in no time flat, which is OK for WRC teams with millions of dollars in the budget, but not so good for normal people tooling around the suburbs.

Honestly, I dont think there will be sufficient oxygen left in the exhaust stream to support combustion. The anti lag systems on the rally cars also requires that the throttle be set open a few degrees above what they consider normal idle. The computer is then programmed to drop ignition off a couple of cyinders. Known as rotating misfire. The extra air and fuel mixture from the unignited cylinders, is then available for the combustion process in the turbo.Typically rally cars drive around 600 to 1200 K's per event.(including transport between stages) Turbos on a budget concious team are replaced every 3rd rally. 3,000 kilometers per turbo. Yeah like someone said, hope you have a very healthy bank balance. As they say in the rally fraternity "The way to make a small fortune from competitive motorsport, is to start with a large fortune."

just get a turbo of an evo 6, with a titanium moving parts less interia means less lag

do u realise a diesel injector is not an electronic item
they are opened by excessive pressure supplied by the injector pump, so i dont think your haltech or anything will help

antilag is cool
i used to run it on my 1600 with an autronic ecu
its magic when u change gears
it will fuk yr turbo
it can melt yr cat converter within 5 minutes
stress yr whole engine due to it running 20 to 30 degrees timing after top dead centre
and to get it running right takes awhile if u dont know what to look for

the aux output would run a pump that would have enough pressure to open the injector and keep it squirting fuel

Do you have any idea how much fuel pressure diesels run?

sell the haltek and buy an autronic
it uses the main injectors to supply the extra fuel
the throttle is open 10% at idle which makes the engine rev hi
to counter this u have to retard the timing 40 to 60 degrees from normal
this brings the revs down to about 1500 to 2000 or so
it sounds mad
hehe

Tell you what - if you don't give a rats arse about the law, want a lesser chance of blowing yourself sky high, don't want to make as much noise and save a fortune on turbo rebuilds, do it the easy way - nitrous!

from the few different sets of diesel injectors i've installed this week at work
a diesel injector operates between 100-135psi
it'd wanna be a pretty good fuel pump you're getting....
