Guys I need help

Heyas....not really new to toymods but have been reading the forums for a while...anyway I need to know a few things and I hope you guys can help me out. I have a 94 model camry which I wanna do up, i know its not something that generally ppl do up but thats exactly why I am going to....the only things is I know next to nothing about these things and need all the info I can get.
I was thinking of improving the handling a bit first, I rang Pedders a while ago and asked about their perfoamnce packakes for a camry and all they had was slightly stiffer springs and heavy duty shocks....how much do you reackon this will change the handling og the car? And what would be a better option?
Any info would be appreciated...
