Fried Fuel Pump

ERRRGH just when i had the conversion FINISHED it goes and roots itself 
My V8 fuel pump (external commodore) one fried... now I am wondering if this is cause my fuel lines are too thin What do other ppl do, i was using the standard 4ac tank with original lines (except i ran a thicker pipe after the pump but not on the 30cm before)?
Any ideas would be MUCH appreciated
