Who's coming to see some of the targa stages this year?
does anyone know what interesting toyota's are entered this year? the webpage is set up badly and it is hard to work out what and who is entered. Last year from memory the classic toyotas were an 18RG RA40 and a 4AGE TA22, might have been some more.

Don't forget Neal Bates...
He's bound to enter in some sort of Toyota or Lexus...

From a few years ago - I remember reading the rules for Targa Tasmania, and it seemed quite hard to get a car in the race..
from memory it had to be some sort of classic and in close to classic form (ie: no major engine conversions, tube chassis etc.) ..
does anyone konw if this is the case?

i have the regulations book for this years targa and in short any car can enter as long as it meets the safety requirements and is road legal and registered,
if you mod the crap out of your car then it just means you will be put in a class where you are up against the same cars with the same level of mods although targa tries its best to bring all cars to the same level so depending on the level of mods you may be required to have a certain size inlet restrictor added to reduce engine power output,
classic cars are limited in the way that they must run using technology that was around in the year that model was last built.
so you can't take an early 70's car and put the brand new and latest EFI system on it, as that technology was not around in that day.
you can't take a 70's model celica and ut a honda vtec engine in it as that technology was not around at that time.
understand what i'm saying?
i may be wrong on a couple o points but if i am then sorry its just the book is big and kinda complicated to read. i need a lawyer to read it for me

you can do whatever you want to the engine as long as it remains the original block.
and mod the engine in any way you want providing you could do those same type of mods in the year the car was built

Both the new monaros ran out of fuel on the same stage and the next day one of the XR8 drivers got disqualified for drink driving, he was more than 3 times the limit.

Thanks for the link matey...
LOL... Bloody Ford drivers still son't know what the hell is going on...
I think the Monaro's had a problem with the fuel level indicator... It was either that they ran out of fuel when the display said 17 lires left or 17 kms to go before fuel runs out...

Being orignally from Tassy I'm a big Targa fan (my dear old Nan from Devonport cuts the daily newspaper clipping out of the local paper and sends them up to me during Targa.) She doesnt understand Targa has a website.
Ha Ha........ hows that for a petrol head.
Anyway my brother tried to enter his 79 Ford Escort a few years ago. It was knocked back due to the fact it wasn't an RS2000. The fact he's spent a small fortune on it, he had the entry money and it's in immaculate condition didn't mater! Targa is expensive and really a game for the rich and famous. Tasmania has other similar events held each year but without the Targa big bucks and wank.
Here's the mighty Escort in the "Tasmanian Examiner Challenge" a few years ago. An event very similar to Targa and just as much fun.
