18RGU Rebuild..what's your advice?? Tue, 27 May 2003 05:01 Go to previous message
Hi there,

I have an 18RGU head number 11111-88250 with EFI fitted. Just installed and was going good until the cold weather started,(the car wouldn't). Thought it was the Cold start injection until I did a Compression test Cold. Not Good!!

So I need to fix this. I don't want a monster drag car just a good reliable runabout. So what should I do.
I know I need--

1.New rings.
2. I have a set of standard pistons all ready so I'll use them.
3.head shave.(I take it the block needs a shave too??not sure)
4. timing chain while I'm taking it apart.

What else should I look at. should i get new valves, and if so should I get the bigger ones for the EFI engine and alter the head to accommidate them. (is it worth it?). should i replace the valve springs?

Can someone tell me of a place that I can get this stuff from(gaskets, rings, valves, timing chain) at a good price and a recomendation for getting the head work done.(In Brisbane)

any other things I might have missed please let me know
thanks
