AE92 electrical gremlins

Does anyone happen to know of a great place to start looking for electrical nasties on an AE92? This is a standard car, 4AFC, 3 speed auto (yick!). I know of a few common problems on some cars that can do funny things with the electrics (e.g. earth wire on headlight of R31 skyline), but not the AE92... The trouble is it will suddenly decide to stall as well as moving the temp gauge to the max position (no, it's not overheating, it's an electrical problem..). Can someone PLEASE save me from farting around for hours with a multimeter trying to look for crook earthing etc.??
