i know that this is a toyota website, but i was wondering if n e one could give me any advice on changing a head gasket on an datsun l series engine. how long will it take. etc...

i did a google search on 'datsun ute headgasket', and came up with this site:

the answer is, it depends.
once you pull the head, you'll be wanting to see if it's in good shape
if you've been driving around for a while with a blown HG, then chances are your head is warped. this means you'll have to get it to a machining shop to smooth it out. (it might be a good idea to take it to them anyhow, and see if they thing it needs machining, or check it yourself if you know how)
as long as you've got a fair idea of what you're doing, it basically takes up an afternoon.
