Car Alarm Help Thu, 24 July 2003 23:17 Go to previous message
In my 1991 Celica, i have a car alarm with keyless entry. Everything works perfectly, and the alarm goes off and everything, except that the alarm system isn't hooked up to the indicators. So when i unlock or lock, i get the "beep beep" but no flashes.

I would like to hook these lights up. I will look on the box and put my test light into each connection until i find the light one (one that flashes as i lock and unlock the car). Now, where do i run this to? I want both indicators to flash.

I think that if i run it to a part of the indicator that stays on constantly as you push the hazards or indicator, that it will then go through the "magic box" that turns a constant signal into flashes. If i do this, then the double flash might get converted into a single flash when it goes through the box.

am i making any sense? Where should I run the wire from the alarm to, and what sort of diode do i need? Can i just hook it up to the frond indicators and they will all work, or do i have to run seperate wires to each light (EG front back side).

Thanks alot

The alarm is a DEI Hornet, that's all i know. Everything was already installed when i got the car and i don't have a manual for it.
