AE92 CSI VS AE92 CS SHOWDOWN Wed, 03 September 2003 12:59 Go to next message
hey,
What do u reckon of the 4afc engine???
I drove the CS corolla tonight, does pretty well, I wouldn't mind the CSI though, when I went with bassboyrolla in his car, it was substantially quicker, and dads car only has 131,000kms on the clock so its in very good nick (its had a very easy life, till i started driving it hehee)

And yeah I would definitely change the wheels/tyres, I have to keep checking if the hubcaps have come off when i go around a corner a bit too quick.

Wouldn't mind getting a CSI Sedan then.
WHich would handle better, the Hatch or the Sedan??

Can anyone tell me some benefits of the CSI over the CS??
Maybe even the opinion of someone who has driven both engines and could tell me what they reckon of them compared.

I know what the CS Sedan is like, I am just wondering how the CSI would benefit, in terms of performance ect..
What size zorst is reasonable for CSI?

If the world was like Toyota, nothing would ever break down, it would be very cheap to survive, and replacement limbs would be available everywhere..
I wouldn't mind getting the CSI Sedan to look similar to these:

any suggestions would be great!

Gday,

While that isn't the worse specimen of an ae92 that i've seen, personally i would recommend you forget CS and CSI, and get an SX spec if you are ae92 corolla crazy.

Then reguardless of exhaust, you'll have a much better engine and flog a cs/csi. Your interior will be a bit nicer too.

Catcha,
Seeks.

Only problem with the SX, is that they are SOOOO expensive in melbourne, Like $8000ish for a PROPER good condition one.

This was one Idea,

I was thinking of buying a SX hatch with relatively high kms (250,000-270,000) for around $3000ish-$3500 if possible, I would then replace the engine with the 4age 20 valve, I have heard this is kinda like a replacement engine, and it would be not too hard to do, or would I get just another 4age 16 valve for about $750 or whatever they are going for at the moment.

I would get one with no rust if possible

Any other ideas.......

Would anyone in Melbourne Wanna give me a hand with the engine swap hahahaha.

I got my SX from melbourne through the trading post and then shipped it down to tassie because sx's are virtually no existant in tassie, i've only ever seem 3 others + a couple of Gtis and never one for sale. mine is immaculate and was $5750 with 12 months (victorian) rego and about 160,000kms. Only problems were a couple of extremely minor dents that arn't at all noticable untill you are up close polishing it and it was also missing one of the standard alloy center pieces. Just keep an eye on the tradingpost first thing on a thursday morning and you should pick up a bargin Wink as for rust, mine doesn't have any, it should be too hard to find one with out rust but still check carefully.

Hey, gee $5750 with 12 months rego and 160,000kms is an awesome deal, how did u process the deal?? How much did it cost to send.

How hard would it be to fix little dents if there were some?

What was the paint like?

The way i brought the car was a little dodgey, i payed the bloke before i had seen the car, i basically had a detailed description that turned out to be accurate. I was that keen for an SX and there were other people wanting this one so i put the money in his bank and it turned out well. Freight was $350 on the spirit of tas. it is $100 each way if you can get a ticket but i had to put mine through freight so it cost more. $42 for roadworthy inspection. $450 for rego + about $200 for change over fees. I also cashed in the vic rego although i'm not sure what that was worth in the end.

the paint on mine was pretty good, white doesn't fade much but if you got a red sx it could be faded due to the age. the dents on mine are that minor i havn't even thought about fixing them. the first is next to the fuel tank door and the second is under the drivers mirror. I guess this would be cheep to fix. both aren't 2mm deep and paint isn't effected.

From what i have noticed, SXs seem to be devaluing quick! especially in NSW, i guess that is good for you but not me Smile i'll be selling mine in about 12 months when mx5s are eligible under the 15 year rule so if your still after one then Wink
