Gday,
A few of you might remember a couple of threads going about an ae101-20valve conversion into my ae92 sx seca, this would be well over a year ago now, maybe 2. Thanks for all the help too!
I've got two questions, my gearbox is starting to crunch (like every other 4age box i've had anything to do with). It's the ae101 20v box i'm using, I changed the gearbox oil and the only difference I could really notice is that now it's a lot worse when it's cold, and not not so bad when it's warmed up a bit. Does anyone have any ideas (apart from getting it overhauled) what kind of oil I could put in it to make it a tad smoother, it happens particularly when i'm shifting down into third that it crunches, the other gears are ok if you're being semi-nice to them. I've seen different types of mixtures I could shove in there at super-crap auto to 'smoothen gear changes' but I really don't know much about what would work and what wouldn't.
Second question is, my 20v doesn't blow smoke like my old 16v did, but still I get a fair bit of the black sooty gunk on my rear bumper. Could that be from running rich as opposed to burning oil ? Might have to check that my o2 sensor is infact working correctly.
