getting engine number! Mon, 15 September 2003 12:08 Go to previous message

Thanks to whoever it was who told me where the engine number was on a 1g-gte. Think it was Justcallmefrank.

Anyway, finally found it today. Toyota put it in the hardest possible spot i am sure! No chance of seeing it from the top because of the inlet manifold. So had to get at it from underneath.

Front: not a chance oil filter and engine mount in the way.

Back: bit easier. got the degreaser out, cleaned it right down. Got my dad's extendable plumbing mirror and fiddled around looking back to front and upside down. About half an hour later, finally worked it out! And there was some hose in the middle of it too so had to work around that.

Moral of the story: Get your engine number off the engine before you put it into the car! Smile
