engines in RA28 Tue, 16 September 2003 13:24 Go to previous message
I'm researching what I can do to my RA28 as far as engine conversions.
Picture this:

1. I have endless money.

2. I have an empty engine bay

3. I have a worked 18R-GEU

I'm comparing 1J's vs. 18R-GEU (na or turbo or s/c) vs. 4agze vs. 3sge (beams) vs. 3sgte vs. 1ggte

The easiest way is to go 18RGEU for installation, handling I assume would be similar to stock 18r

The 1J is far too heavy, and a barstard to fit so it got the flick early.

but I can't find any specs on the 3S's as far as weight compared to standard but can achive 150 rwkw and be reliable

And can the 4agze's be built to 150 rwkw and still be reliable, streetable as a daily driver.

1ggte seem to be the general way to go but I would like to stay 4 cylnder.

BEAMS 3g-se I have no idea about installing (clearances to steering etc) keeping in mid that me and welders shouldn't be in the same room.

My question firstly is on handling for the diffrent engines
and the weights of the engines

and secondly how much modification would be required to fit a BEAMS 3GSE as this currently appeals to me.

thirdly would any of you fine people like to assist me in any welding that I would otherwise f#%k up. Razz Embarassed

I'm aiming to get a reliable daily driver with around 150rwkw
and in the planning stage (now) I'm looking at all options and eliminating down to a final setup.

Cheers
Simon.
