Has anyone here put a 3S-GTE engine in one of the older celicas? or do u know of anyone that has? The engine conversion page on this site says they fit. And the 98 model of the engine is 260HP. If you can then its going straight to the top of my list i really really want one in my car! I just thought id ask anyway cause theyre for 4wd celica's although there is a 245hp model for MR2's
cheers

What is 260hp in kW?
The GenIV from the Caldina (97-) is rated at 195kW. Although I haven't seen any importers with any, they're probably more common in Japan due to popularity of wagons there.

i know the gen III out of the celica and the mr2 was rated at 180kw at fly so i dont think it is 260 hp i think its more like 220 or 240hp cant member...even so not a bad standard output for a 2L turbo.

i don't know why you'd bother with a $5500 Gen3 Halfcut, when you could get a Gen2 for $2500. That $3000 extra spent on new internals for the motor would take its performance far beyond that of the stock Gen3. In my opinion a worked Gen2 has just as much potential as a worked Gen3.

agreed thats why i did exaxtly that the only thing that i like about the gen III better is the fact that there is no VSV on it and to get rid of it is not one of the easiest things also very expensive....and the other thing is the ecu is better in the fact it will allow to 18psi (map sensor) no prob where as u would be luck to get 13 -14 psi (afm) out of the gen II ecu. but otherwise i would definatly agree with just getting a gen II and work it with the extra cash u save... and then u will have a better performing motor.....
just my thoughts

I have put a 3sgte out of an ST185, in an ST162(FWD). I got it out of a halfcut, i paid $2000 for the halfcut and $200 to have it sent to Syd from Qld.
How old of a celica were u talking about?

my celica is a 77 RA28, u can see it at my web site. I plan to do quite a few things first but i was just shocked to see such a high power output from an engine of that capacity.

Rolin Imports!! It was missing the brake calipers, thats what was wrong with it. And it had something like 68k on it.
