the red in the redline must have been " clashing with the nice shades of grey scattered thru-out the interior - according to some interiour design pen pushger at ford ..
re redline on em - they can go to 6 ish - but thats ringing their neck
Oh - and without the speed limiter - 220 is a pushover ..

On the AU's you can pull the dash fuse to get around the speed limiter i was informed by a lurker in these places.
it probably has valve train rev limiting anyway

My AU goes to the 180 limit very easily and feels good there too! I used to hit the limit just about every time i went to over take on the highways

I reckon it would have no worries hitting that 7000 rpm. I daresay it's got a limiter though, just not marked.
They are overhead CAM afterall. And as we know, OHC loves to rev.
You'd be throwing rods and ovaling heads, (no wait, they're already ovaled straight from the factory in canada), if you did that for any long time in a commonwhore.

the tacho and speedo are around the wrong way? Most tacho's I've seen in cars are on the left. Only thing I could 'seriously' see wrong with it

There is a rev limiter! It is a modern EFI twin cam motor after all.
I think it cuts in at about 6000rpm or so.
Do you think Ford's going to let a car out into the fleet market where most people can't drive without the limiter?
Do the auto Ford's still have a speed limiter at 180? I haven't had a chance to try one yet.

HSV's also do not have a redline on the Tacho in their cars, but they have a shift buzzer/light that tells the dorks who forked out over $60k for a souped Crumpledore its time to shift.
I believe that it is the same for the Fords. Then again, they may have just plain forgotten, their quality is known to be suspect

If you work for GMH, I'd be very careful about criticising others about suspect quality!
I drive a VX wagon for work, & so the thing will run properly without getting the engine management/body computer confused, I've got to pull out the fuse periodically.
It's like having bl..dy Microsoft Windows where you just restart it occasionally.
And why is there no way to manually lock the tailgate? If this fuse blows, there's no central locking, and therefore the car is not able to be locked!!!!

Hey, I only started here 18 months ago, so I only have had a finger in the pie for VY onwards
The comment about quality was tongue in cheek , but on the whole, the cars from both companies are a HUGE improvement on what they did 10 years ago. That said, it still doesn't match up to the imports by a long way.
Nice anaolgy with MS Windows there !!!!!

Just jokes.
It's my work car, so what do I care really. If it breaks down in work hours, they still pay me.
It'll be traded in about 10 000km (which is about 3 months)
But I'd still be curious to know if anyone thought of the problem with the tailgate.
Do you think you could convince someone at GMH that pushrods went out with the 80's.

Big thing about pushrods in V8's. They work, they're cheap, and simple. They also make the overall package quite small. Just compare how big the new BA engines are to the Gen 3.
The Gen IV V8 will have dual cams, but still have pushrods. With 6.2 litres, the Corvette version has been pumping out 360kW, so it still works. That said, the Japs and Europeans have showen the Yanks consistently how to make good engines, e.g. BMW M3, Toyota 6's, Porsche with their Flat 6 (Latest GT3 has 280kW out of a 3.6 N/A flat 6 !!), The Rotary, Porsche 928 etc.
That said, the work is still good and they pay VERY well. How many engineers get paid overtime !!!
