What The??!? 'hot glue/resin' in the distributor?? Sat, 27 September 2003 07:46 Go to previous message
just pulled one of my dizzies apart today (the one i planned on using) and the frigging thing has this hot glue, or some kind of resin glue (its looks like dried tree sap!) splattered around inside it Shocked WTF?!

it looks like its been deliberately put on two of the wires in there (holding 'em in place), but it has subsequently dripped (im assuming) and splattered around during operation berfore drying. now thats not so bad - but its also coated two induction pickup tips and the induction tip of the rotor base....

i mean, it looks like shit in there!

the air gap on the two coated pickups is 4thou and 5thou respectively (tolerance 8-16thou) but this is including the fact that theyve each got a thin coat of this glue shit on them.

is this acceptable? i guess it ran like this before, but its not exactly the way i imagine it came from the factory (or did it??!!)

cheers
ed
