Update on the 3SGE to Sprinter page
Tue, 07 October 2003 00:29
The engine & gearbox are in the car to stay now, and it's mainly fiddly stuff like electrics & plumbing that have to be sorted to get the car on the road. The loom has nearly been done now, and it'll have the Altezza instrument panel in it as well. Hopefully it won't look out of place in a twenty year old car!
One problem is that for various reasons we'll have to use an oil pressure switch to control the fuel pump ... long story.
Another potential problem is the single-piece tailshaft that I want to try. Apparently a lot of people have tried it and not had a lot of success, but I'll still give it a go anyway. One factor in our favour is that the car will have a 3.9:1 diff ratio whereas the usual ratio for a performance AE-86 is more like 4.3:1 or shorter so it'll spin slower than normal.
Anyway, all going well it'll be a runner in maybe a few weeks or so.
More info & pics on the 3SGE in AE-86 conversion page.
