ST162 Handbrake Light won't go off

I have know this to happen on other 162's and it has finally happenned to me and darn it I is irritating!  I think it is stopping my cruise control from working too.
I unplugged and grounded the little switch on the bottom of the handbrake lever, still stayed on. I then unplugged the connection to see what would happen. STILL on. SO irritating.
Anyone know about this? - Thanks fellas!
