Can any of you ppl out there with ported engines tell me how much extra fuel you use compared to before it was ported and much it was ported?

If you are talking about what I understand to be ported it only increases airflow which in terms gives power, it doesnt mess with fuel consumption.

the diffreence will be linked to your right foot. when i ported my exhaust, i think consumption went down on highway runs (less exhaust restriction) but i've always had high fuel consumption figures Rolling Eyes

but if airflow increased wouldnt ur ecu crank up fuel to balance the air/fuel ratio?

porting does two things.

increases potential airflow

increases efficiency

but bad porting can also make both worse. even good porting may only increase efficiency and airflow potential in certain rev ranges too.

actual airflow is ALWAYS controlled by your right foot. if you use the throttle lightly, you decrease your fuel consumption, simple as that.

the head will only flow as much air as the throttle body lets in

I use don't measure the fuel consumption but i can tell you that with the ported head it now has a heap more torque than it did before.
What sort of motor are you wanting to do this to?

A ported head if done properly should reduce your fuel consumption is driven easily because you won't be needing as much throttle/fuel to get the required power.

Yah - anything that can reduce pumping losses is a good thing on all counts - but its naturally a big question of tuning, driving style, etc. as well Evil or Very Mad
