ae95 Forums Junkie I supported Toymods Location: Perth, WA Registered: May 2003	More 4age bigport tvis timing problems Sat, 25 October 2003 05:15 Ok.. im trying to adjust the timing on my 4AGE 16v bigport tvis. im following this manual: http://www.toymods.org.au/cgi-bin/photo/index.cgi? album=/TechDocs/4age_book/engine/2_engine_tune_up& amp; amp;mode=viewpicture&picture=tuneup_04.jpg my mate told me to skip step 2 cause thats not really important.Do i need to do step 2? isnt it just to check the engine is idling normally, hence i can use my incar tacho. so i continue and do all the rest and adjust it to around 12BTDC @ idle (w/ T and E1 shorted). then i unshort them and rechecked the timing and it was still the same. WTF? in the manual it states the timing should change, rise to 16BTDC or more @idle. im thinking there is something wrong with the T and E1 terminals or maybe i didnt short it properly? how can i test if it is shorted properly? rev the engine and if the timing doesnt change then it is shorted? Also i had the adjust it to 12BTDC because that was the closest i could get it. The distributor only slots in a few certain spots, like the cogs and stuff so i couldnt get it right on 10.
