I guess there should be some distinction here, are we talking about most expensive new car, or most expensive collectable? If we're talking about new car then you'd have to be thinking McLaren F1 or the new Rolls. If we're talking collectables, I have no idea

on a sidenote followed from one of those related records
Best Selling Automobile
By December 2000, more than 24,986,607 Toyota Corollas had been produced worldwide. The Corolla was first produced in 1966 and was introduced to the US in 1968 as a two-door subcompact car. By 1970 the Corolla was the second best selling import in the US and by 1988, 10 million had been sold in that country alone. By 1997 the 20 millionth Corolla rolled off the production lines. In the decades since its introduction the Corolla has built up an enviable reputation for reliability.

That bugatti is incredible:

There is also the Ferrari Enzo ($2mil) and the Mercedes ($1.5mil)

There was a particular model of Renault built (the name of which temporarily escapes me) but the only surviving examples (two) lie some miles beneath the Atlantic. In the hold of the Titanic. Retrieve one of these and see what it'll fetch.

No! This!
The Koenigsegg
its excellent as a daily driver too! roof comes off.. leather interior, hand crafted, dvd tv, scissor doors and most importantly:
a mid mounted supercharged and intercooled 32-valve quad cam alloy 4.7 liter 8 cylinder engine pumping out 655hp & 750nm... 10 sec quarters in style.
Get the top gear episode with it in it.. clarkson is a funny bastard.
