Witch way to go?

Ok I have an average MA61 supra with a good 5ME, its got heaps of torque but it eats petrol flat out. I have a 1G-GTE that is good 2 but being a small eng will it pull ok in the MA61, it has a T4 hybrid and is happy to put out about 160rwk. I am toying with 2 ideas, put the 1G in or decomp the 5M and fit the T4 to it, with a fuel/ignition computer.
Any one know if the 1G will go straight in to the factory mounts?
Has anyone turboed a 5M?
All pros and cons are wanted, I want a car that will pull hard from low end all the way through the rev range, the 1G is a bit lagy from when it was in the corona but thats because of the exhaust i had on it.
I just want a reliable car and dont want to go over the top, im not out to prove anything just want to beat a few cars other than V6 commo's
