replace T03/4 on my 18R with a CT20? Sat, 01 November 2003 10:13 Go to previous message
i thinking of replacing the T03/4 hybrid (came from Mike Vine Turbos) with a CT20.

i'm considering this so the engine comes onto boost quicker and i can get rid of the wastegate plumbing under the log-style exhaust manifold.

Helene & Matti's Toyota site say these were on engines like 3T-GTEU's - what else used CT20s?

I know this would result in a power drop, but with the way my car is setup, it might make it more drivable around town - boost hits at 3K and tends to 'run away' and i would like a more progressive boost response - plus an easier-controlled wastegate.

More about the car is at URL in my sig and then take the link to 'specifications'.
Marks on the turbo housings are:
intake: T04 Air Research (Garrett) A/R 60
exhaust: A/R .40 (i think it's a T03 snail)

any suggestions? am i looking at a serious performance drop?

I've got to take the manifold off to fix holes in welds and i'm trying to find someone to weld me an intake manifold suitable for EFI and FMIC. So while it's off, adding a new mounting plate and removing the wastegate mount will be easy.
