To make sure I don't have too many surprises when the engine goes in, I am going to start/idle my 1J out of the car.
It is currently sitting upright on a pallet so I will nail/bolt a few things on to the pallet for:
- radiator support
- ps reservior attachment
- exhaust mounting
- engine support!
Basically I plan to:
- inspect the condition of the plugs
- bridge the heater inlet/outlet pipes
- change the oil & filter
- fill the radiator with coolant
- connect up the ECU & 'check engine' light
- crank it with no fuel for about 30 secs (to get oil flowing around the engine & turbos)
- crank it with fuel - hopefully it starts & idles
- let it warm up to operating temp (I will have a temp gauge attached)
I have at least one question:
- It has a single engine drive belt, so the ps pump will be running. What do I do with the ps hose? - just connect it straight back into the ps reservior? (I don't have a spare rack)
