for the mods you've done to it - expect buggerall back, if any

for a $5000 car, it's pretty easy to be written off (of course, I have no idea of the extent of the damage, but dont get your hopes up)

how do they work out the value of the car if it's a write off? do they use a certain book value? if so i hope it isn't anything like the redbook value because that is unbelevably low!

Thats what I was thinking, I would hate for that to happen because they would stick me with the $1500 (had the car privately valued at $5000) that my car is worth *market* value. That market value would cover my mags on the car and leave me with no transport. The insurance company pay you out without consideration of what the vehicle in real terms is worth.

they would probably have an assessor look at it, and make a value judgement, depending on how clean, rust free, etc it was.

just remember you can salvage whatever you want from it - take the mags and the stereo, etc etc

actually, i think it depends on ur insurer.. my friend wrote off his mazda 626 and they didnt let him have anything.. but that accident was his fault.. does it matter who is at fault?

same happenned to my friend .. wrote off a nice v8...
insurance company was gonna give her 5 for the car(and not let her have anything from the car)(had spent 8 on engine alone or something like that).. so she told them to fuck off and struck a deal that she got 2.5 or 3k or something and got to keep the car

it more depends on what is/isn't covered.
if they wont cover you for the mags, you can take them off and put stockies back on (the car must have wheels).
if they wont cover yuour stereo, then take it!

ended up getting a brand new hatch and bumper, back lights were second hand. so overall it has ended up quite good.

try as best as possible to get an SX hatch as they have the holes for the spoiler... Also, they don't have the light panel across the bootlid like the Corolla GTi...
