the chaser is quite luxurious - compared to a skyline especially. It's powered by the 1jz-gte, a 2.5 twin turbo engine cranking out 280bhp stock, and can easily be modded for more (250rwkw before you need to worry about changing turbos, injectors, etc).

I'm not sure on the 1/4 times, as they're got a bit of a fat arse (being a luxury cruiser and all), but they're not sluggish once those turbos are going.

only until just recently the 1JZ-GTE powered chaser was available for import, previous to this the only chasers allowed into the country where diesel.

i would have a 1JZ chaser over a 4 door skyline anyday.

my figure of 200kg maybe wrong but they certainly weight less and therefore outperform

Chaser/MkII = luxo sedan.

Supra = sports coupe.

I'm not convinced the Supra is the heavier one in the comparison!

Rad...Hmm never pictured myself in one of these but saw a nice one on TradingPost, Dark Greeny/Blue...Has mags but would go bigger.

Can you put BOV's on turbo diesels (notice my lack of mechanical knowledge)

Judging by those stats this luxury car hammers...am io correct in saying that?

Anyone know anyone on this forum that has one?

Also those stats, how different would they be for an Auto (thats what it is)

there is a mark 2 for sale but its a yuk colour...but if its much more powerful than a 'mark nothing" then im sure a respray can be done

PS thanks everyone for the info, its not good coz its dragging me away from skylines, but ohwell luxury and power, who'd say no?

The name of the car is "Mark II"; it's not the second version of anything, and there is no "Mark I".

There is no point putting a BOV on a diesel engine because the generally don't have a throttle plate. But even if you could do it, why would you want to?

actually.. the mark II is lighter than the supra... supra weighs in at 1490 and mkII 1460. Also MKII's run faster 1/4 times than the supra aswell... 13.59 compared to the 13.7 of the supra.. these are based of hpi 'know your imports' section .. and road test from another mag

from what youve been saying id guess your driving a non turbo R33 skyline or an R31.

just from what youve been saying it doesnt sound like the chaser is the car for you.

your wasing your time with a diesel if you want performance. the import ones that have the 1JZ and the turbo are the only good ones. otherwise all your getting is pretty much a camry.

not trying to be offensive or anything but a non turbo R33 sounds like it suits you best. and as for 4 door, tell you friends to shut up and sit in the back, or to catch a cab, my car is 2 seater only and it suits me fine cos im not a bloody taxi.

i agreee

although i've fit 7 people in my supra Very Happy (registered for 4 people)

just crammed an extra in the back seat and 2 in the boot\hatch section. not a good idea really(especially since i was stoned and drunk at the time...then again, at the time my mates presented a really good argument. thankfully i've stopped all drink driving foolishness)

On the chasers again...ive attached the 2 that i can/could choose from...i was just thinking to myself 'ive been suspended from school twice for hooning related instance and have spent a fair bit of $$$ on tyres and so on...yes its stupidity not the car but i want something with a bit of luxury, still some up and go about it (enough to beat commodores, thats all i care about) something i can fill with stereo and eventually put a nice clean kit on.

Also as much as a love skylines theyre cop bait aswell as becoming quite common.

Can i get everyones thoughts and so on about the 2 cars attached, you will see what i mean about the 2 different looking cars and stuff.

Thanks in advance

perhaps youve been ignoring everyones persuasion to AVOID the diesel???

then again, perhaps a 17yo self-confessed 'hoon' is better off not owning a 1jzgte chaser.

nods ed - instead of smoking tyres - he can leave em in a cloud of diesel fumes

i guess if you want economy mode - the TD is a good option but dont expect to be cutting sic in one ..

and once again a 17 yo with a 1jz turbo ... Hmm ... Bye bye cheap insurance! hellooo BIG insurance bill!

well if thats what you want, not sure if its gonna beat many commodores tho, might be pretty even with an older v6 auto.

why is it that you want a diesel chaser again?

Ok ill get a few tings straight here.

-These 2 cars are the only chasers (and one other) in QLD, and they are TD

-Im not allowed to get a turbo, tuebo diesel still has cheapish insurance

-wasnt one of the earlier posts saying that a TD Chaser is quite quick?

Thanks

PS whats a cavalier like?

You can buy the allex/runx here you know... The new levin's have the 2zz-ge in them Smile although toyota says they are nearly 2 seconds slower then the celica to 100... doesn't that seem a little strange?
