being the 1ggte u will need go a bigger radiator if anything. As i work in a radiator shop my suggestion is insted of going a thicker core maybe go a wider rad to leave yourself some room. Prolly the only answer apart from a floor mount rad under the sump with thermos but they take alot getting to work properly but then u could put any small one in front of the engine, Let us know how it goes.

can u mount the rad further forward/backward so you have room
i'd go extra cores (my ta22 now has 3 cores in the stock radiator) OR look at converting to an alloy core radiator (this will prolly cost you a good deal of money tho)

Having had a 1G motor in the same platform car (mine was in an RA28), you can get away with the standard radiator with approximately 15mm to spare. You will need to run a thermo fan on the front side (some say this is the less effective way of mounting a thermo fan) of the radiator, as you will have no space behind it.
