Acrylic paint on taillights

Hey everybody. I want to paint the orange parts of my taillights with a transparent red paint. I can't find transparent red enamel anywhere, but i can get acrylic stuff from toyworld. Would i be safe to paint this on my lights, just to tint them a bit more red to match the rest of the car or will it peel off or stuff up my paint? Thanks alot
