Installing tacho to ae92 Wed, 26 November 2003 13:09 Go to previous message
Hey,
I have this oldish tacho sittin around, I wanna wire it up into dads CS ae92 Sedan, I'm scared I ain't doin the engine too good. Its a 4AFC as u would know, so no rev limiter.. Can someone give me a run down on how to install it? The tacho has 4 wires, U proabably all knew that, but i'm quite new to this all.. Maybe u might be able to make it a "Wiring Tacho for Dummies" type of installation directions!
Thanx!

These are typical speeds I would change gears, could u possibly tell me how many rpm i am doin, and what is safe to actually go up to in each gear..

Typical
First 20kms
Second 45kms
Third 80kms (sounds quite interesting, its a lot more responsive at these speeds, not to mention use a lot more fuel)
Fourth 120kms
Fifth 160kms (shit scared to try any faster)

I find the engine is a lot more pleasant to drive when i do the above speeds, it just sounds like at the above speeds, the 4afc is going spastic and doesn't seem to like those speeds...

Also, this is unusual but i still can't figure out what it is, say i'm sitting at 40km/hour in third gear, and i hold off changing gears to about 80kms the car has kinda like a bit of a boost, like it feels similiar to TVIS where u feel the engine opening up but its quite a rapid increase, it picks up speeds a lot quicker.

Could someone explain this please??

Thanks to everyone at toymods!
