now by that subject i posted, you might be getting the wrong idea what this is all about. what the "fucking Initial D" subject is about is the DVD that they just released in Auz. i love Initial D and looked long and hard for my entire collection of DVD's and was quite presently suprised as to just how good the series is... BUT... i fear that perhaps it would've been better if they had never released it for commercial sale. HAS ANYONE HEARD THAT STUPID ENGLISH DUB??????!!?? it is an insult to my intelligence!! i don't mind the "dude" and "cool ride bro" remarks, and the highly american sounding honda exhausts sfx they use instead of the original sound effects, and the silly screen effects they use to try and bump up the car race sequences, the more aggressive undertones in the dialogue, but i drew the line at the soundtrack!!!!! now i'm aware that most people hate eurobeat with a passion, but initial D without it is soulless... the whole feel of the show is out of whack, and the car sequences which had awesome GET UP AND GO HIGH ENERGY music, are now slow and boring thanks to it's heavy - and slow - metal they got going in the background now. now, i wouldn't mind as much as they have the DVD with the optional orig. soundtrack and dialogue, but as i'm sure most people feel, hardly anyone i'm sure could be assed to ever watch anything other than the english vers due to the fact they'd have to read subtitles. the english dub is gonna put initial D into the grave. i figured that the popularity of initial D would jump as soon as it got out on the market, but now it seems very unlikely. i just hope people see that initial D is NOT another fast and the furious, which the stupid people who dubbed this show approached it as. the show is so much cooler and so much more amazing than that. just thought i'd vent my frustration and see what you guys all though...
